Airfare to Costa Rica from the US
Airfare to Costa Rica can vary a lot throughout the year, so if you are planning ahead and a little flexible with your time you can get a great price from the U.S. (I don't know about traveling from other parts of the world because I haven't done it. Have you? Please share below, we'd love your advice.)
From San Francisco Airport to the major airport in Costa Rica, San Juanamaria in San Jose CR, I got tickets for $424 each round trip! Aw yeah!
Foxy and I went during the "green" season, otherwise known as the rainy season. But we checked rainfall levels on www.weather.com and saw that the major rain doesn't usually come until September. We went and loved the August green season. There was rain most afternoons but it was our nap time after adventures. And it was only rainy in the center of the country--the Caribbean was pretty dry.
Well, Gringa, how did you get those tix so cheap?
It was easy. I went to an excellent airfare website and put in the trip I wanted to take. I set it to "watch" the trip and send me an email if anything changed. We knew we wanted to go to Costa Rica but didn't think we could afford to, because at the time all the tickets were $800 and up.
In May of 2011, I got some emails saying the ticket prices had dropped. The first couple of times I looked I couldn't find any actual tickets, but then one day I did. I called up Foxy and asked if she wanted to go for $424.
But of course.
And that is how you can get cheap airfare to Costa Rica, OK? Have fun!
