I heart Rosetta Stone Spanish, but is the feeling mutual?
Probably Rosetta Stone Spanish is the best way to learn la lingua with a computer. There are other ways, and I've tried a lot of them, but my short-lived experience with Rosetta Stone was pretty awesome.
Here's what happened: Foxy bought a fake Rosetta Stone on eBay. I used the first couple of units and it was awesome! I learned about cafe and pan and mujeres, and I was just about to move on to more advanced subjects when I had to enter my keycode.
You know what's coming, right?
The keycode didn't work. Why? Because it wasn't a real Rosetta Stone software. Foxy paid $140 for it on eBay and by the time my software arrived the company had been taken down from the site. Still they said they would give me new keycode, but they never did and PayPal refused to refund Foxy's money so now we have what appears to be a full set of Rosetta Stone Spanish Levels 1-5 but is actually a bunch of expensive yellow crap.
I will post a photo of myself with it soon.
Don't be shady.
I have heard his Shady O'Grady ways to get around Rosetta Stone Spanish's high price, but I don't recommend it. Be honest. If you want to learn Spanish on the computer using Rosetta Stone, fork over the money. Five hundred bucks is definitely much less than, say, a trip to Barcelona or Costa Rica or even Mexico but, on the other hand, it's also a lot less fun.
Rosetta infiltrates your unconscious, but in a good way.
From my brief experience I will say this, it's true what they say about Rosetta Stone working intuitively. It almost seems to sink into your brain without your being aware of it, very different from a Spanish class or even Spanish tutoring. They have a fancy marketing way of saying it, but basically it taps into your language-learning brain and bypasses all the critical-brain thinking that most of us doing or trying to learn a language.
In conclusion, I recommend Rosetta for those who can afford it. If you Gringa/os would click more of these Google ads, I could afford to buy the real deal and I will tell you all about it when time comes. Thanks, dudes!
Don't be a hater. If you know some good language learning software, or have some advice on using Rosetta Stone, share it here.
